Originally from Louisiana, Dr. Carpenter completed undergraduate and medical school at Louisiana State University. He came to Chapel Hill, NC where he completed a five-year residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of North Carolina. While in residency he was awarded the resident of the year and chief resident teaching awards and participated in multiple areas of orthopedic education and research. From there, Dr. Carpenter completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at Washington University in St. Louis with national and worldwide leaders in upper extremity surgery. He was happy to return to North Carolina to start practice after completing his fellowship.

Dr. Daniel Carpenter’s specialties include the diagnosis and treatment of upper extremity conditions ranging from shoulder and elbow replacement, rotator cuff repairs, shoulder joint dislocations to complex revision surgery, and more. Additionally, he treats patients with general orthopedic conditions, injuries, and upper and lower extremity fractures. As part of his commitment to providing high quality, patient-centered orthopedic care, Dr. Carpenter strives to help his patients achieve their activity goals—whether seeking to return to high-level athletics or completing daily tasks without pain.
