Karl F. Bowman, Jr., MD

Sports Medicine

Dr. Bowman completed both his undergraduate and medical school training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then pursued a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Michigan where he served as chief resident during his senior year.

Dr. Bowman continued his training by completing a sports medicine and shoulder surgery fellowship at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Center for Sports Medicine. He has served as a team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers, University of Pittsburgh, Duquesne University, Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh Passion, University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, the Pittsburgh marathon, and multiple high schools.

Dr. Bowman has authored over 17 peer-reviewed publications, eight book chapters, and 40 national, regional, and local presentations.

An avid runner and road cyclist, Dr. Bowman continues to compete regionally in road races and time trials. He is joined in Clayton and Smithfield by his wife and young children.
